Simple Tools Driving Complex Methods
Espresso Ray 3D is an exciting product. We've delivered some of the most powerful tools that have ever been used to
perform medical visualization, segmentation, and analysis.
The basic analysis toolkit provides easy-to-use tools to
provide rapid-segmentation and reconstruction of any structures desired by the user. Some of the features included in this toolkit are the threshold-based
surfacer which quickly extracts iso-surfaces from the whole volume.
For more finely-tuned segmentation operations, the innovative
Volume-Of-Interest (VOI) painter tool allows direct manipulation of the desired segmentation region through usage of a three-dimensional
thresholded spherical brush which can be operated in any of the axial, coronal, or saggital planes. Once created, the VOI can be used to
quickly generate 3D surfaces, or as a mask to the entire volume, eliminating all but the most important structures for your study.
GPU-accelerated imaging includes 3D gaussian and sobel filters, including built-in difference of gaussian (d.o.g.) filter support.
An optimized craniofacial segmentation tool designed to run on human heads is also provided.
The advanced analysis toolkit expands upon capabilites of the basic toolkit, including surface landmarking capability in
2D and 3D, intra-landmark linear measurement PCA, procrustean alignment and averaging of individual files to form samples. Also included is the powerful 3-Dimensional
Thin-Plate-Spline (3D TPS) analysis which can perform morphometric strain comparison and warp application between individual landmarked surface files.

Introducing the ER3D file format. Nothing gets lost when it's all together. We realized that medical software these days
can get a little over-complicated. Sure, the the giant database approach is ok for some, but we feel the proven document-based approach
that the rest of the software world uses would work out better.
Inside this little icon contains everything important to you: the 3D image,
3D surfaces, 3D landmarks, TPS results, VOI painter results, it's all there. If it's part of Espresso Ray 3D, then you can rest
assured that it'll be saved inside the ER3D file when you click save. This means no more searching through dozens of individually purposed files, or error prompts warning that your source image can no longer be found.
